Reboots and Remakes podcast!

For my video podcast i will be discussing the reboot and remake of Godzilla by Ishiro Honda. during this podcast i will be analysing the similarities and differences between other  reboots, furthermore i will be studying whether the same audiences of previous reboots follow the modern take on the remake of Godzilla.

Godzilla (1954):
Era .the USA no longer occupies Japan, the soviet union launches sputnik 1 the first artificial satellite, korean war, its also nine years since world war 2 ended.

Budget. 100,000,000 JPY which is equivalent to 5,99714.54 british pounds and 978090.77 US dollars

other successful films. Godzilla: the legend reborn(1985), Godzilla: King of the monsters,Godzilla 2000 (1999), Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (1974), Kingknong vs Godzilla (1962), all of these titles i think have had something to
do with the relaunch of Godzilla in 1998.

age rating. PG

financial or artistic?. i think that this being the first of the franchise it has got to be both as it was a bit of an experiment to see whether it would fall or rise.

Marketing. showing advertisements in newspapers on billboards, there were posters that were plotted around also. marketing costs ended up at around 37,000,000 JPY roughly 600,000 US dollars.

production and distribution. the film didn't actually come out on any format until 1998 in which it released on dvd.

Godzilla (1998):
Era. lots of wars : first congo war (1996), the gulf war in Iraq was left in severe debt. 1993 world trade centre bombing.DNA finds its way to help the law catch criminals.

Budget. roughly 130,000,000 US dollars only as americans produced the film.

Audiences. i think that the audiences for the original Godzilla movie in 1954 did not follow due to the sequel (Godzilla: King of The Monsters)produced by the american film industry which was rushed, as it was the original film re-edited with some added footage of an american actor called Raymond Burr.

financial or artistic?. i think that this remake of Godzilla was made for financial gain as they spent a huge amount of time "bigging" the film up by plotting crushed cars around london as part of a gureilla advertising campaign

Godzilla (2014): terrorism the world trade centre is attacked and destroyed. concerns of the 21st century : Globalisation, overpopulation, abortion, gay rights, poverty, disease, war , terrorism, global warming, fossil fuels, power in inter nation relations ,intellectual property

budget:
